THY KINGDOM COME IS AVAILABLE NOW ON AMAZON AND KINDLE!

Before the prayer asks God to do anything for us, it pauses to honor who He is. “Hallowed” places worship before request.

I have spent much of my life in and around ministry. That experience taught me how easily even spiritual life can become transactional. People can come to church because they need a breakthrough. We can pray because we need an answer. We can worship because we hope worship will unlock something. None of those needs are illegitimate, but relationship cannot survive if every encounter begins with our hands out.

Worship is the declaration that God is worthy before the answer comes. Before bread. Before forgiveness. Before protection. Before deliverance.

And worship is not merely individual. The biblical picture repeatedly gathers people around God. The Kingdom gathers around the King. “Our Father” naturally becomes “hallowed be Thy name.”

Prayer

Hallowed be Your name. Before I discuss what I need, I remember who You are. Let worship put my desires back in order. Amen.
